Get an HTML Tester of your own. use it when you want If you already know both ways to Copy & Paste and/or save things to your Documents, and you don't want a free HTML Tester of your own then skip this lesson and go on to Lesson 8 Or scroll down and get what you would like. This quick lesson is a helpful tip to make things easier for you since the HTML codes are getting longer. You can start writing your own web pages and copy them from the tester and save them in your documents so you can add to, or edit them any time. This can be used anywhere to capture text ( writing ) it doesn't capture images or pictures. You can copy an entire page, an entire code or just a sentence. Even just one word if you wanted to and put what you captured anywhere you want. This is real easy and it wont take much time but it's worth learning since it can be used anytime anywhere. There are 2 ways to copy something. This is 2 copy everything 1. Take your mouse and place the arrow on any word. 2. Now double click. A small part became highlighted. 3. Now on the key board, with one finger hold down the "ctrl" key ( bottom farthest left ) 4. Still holding down the "ctrl" key, with another finger hit the "A" key. 5. Hold down the "ctrl" key again. While holding it down, again with another finger this time hit the "C" key 6. Now with the mouse click in the window of the tester to activate the cursor. 7. When the cursor starts flashing,
Now for the second part. To copy only what you want. 1. ( Below, after number 2 there is a small sentence that begins with 2 red words ) With your mouse, place the arrow on the S of the 2 red words start here. 2. Click the left button of the mouse AND HOLD IT DOWN. While holding it down now move your mouse to the right and/or down till you reach the end. Start hereand move your mouse right and down. Highlighting everything you want to copy. This allows you to copy only what you want. You can do this anywhere there is words. This will save a lot of time in the practices. End 3. When you reach the end, or the last word you want to copy just let go of the button. 4. Now with the key board we will repeat steps 5 thru 7 from the first test above only. DONT hit the A key, this will highlight everything. 5. Just hold down the ctrl key and hit the C key. ( the C key is for coping ) 6. Now activate the cursor in the tester. Hold down the ctrl key and hit the V key.
Congratulations you are an official "COPIER and PASTER" This will save you a lot of typing. And if you find a story or an article some where now you can save it. Or save an HTML code from the tester, or write your own. You can copy from the tester using both methods. Actually There is a 3rd Way to Copy! This way only works in the tester, in Notepad, in Wordpad or where there is a cursor that flashes. GIVE IT A TRY. Copy something and paste it in the tester. Now how do you save things to your documents? First thing is to create a new folder to put things in.
If you didn't print this out, then don't close this window, just click on the icon at the bottom of your screen that brings up your "Desktop" ( try putting your mouse arrow on each icon untill it tells you "Show Desktop" or just "Desktop".) 2. Click on the icon to bring up your desktop. 3. locate the icon on your screen that says "My Documents" and double click it. 4. My Documents is open. now place the mouse arrow any where's in this window on the white, ( not on any folders or anything else ) Now RIGHT CLICK the mouse and a menu will open. Go down the menu and stop on "NEW" don't click. A second menu will open. Go up and click on "FOLDER" You have just created a new folder. This can be done anywhere even on your desktop screen. 5. Notice it says "new folder" and it is highlighted. With the key board just type to give it a name. (My Web Page) (My HTML) or what ever. (You should give it a name. It makes it easier to find things, otherwise each new folder you create will say "New Folder 1" "New Folder 2", but what's inside. See what I mean? 6. Now go and copy something like you just learned. Any thing just so you can learn how to save it. 7. You copied something. now click on "START" at the bottom left of your screen. 8. Place the arrow on "Programs" (don't click) a menu will open. Go to "Accessories" (don't click) another menu will open, Go down to and CLICK ON "Notepad" 9. Notepad is open. You don't have to activate the cursor it will always be flashing when it is opened. 10. Now go up to the top left, and CLICK ON "File" go down to and CLICK ON "Save As" 11. The Save As window is open. (this window allows you to save things on your PC anywhere you want) Now Towards the bottom center a small window will have "*.txt" and it will be highlighted with the cursor flashing. 12. To the far LEFT of this window are icons, CLICK ON "My Documents" (you will notice at the top center a small window that says "My Documents" and to the left of it it says "Save In") (always check this window to see where you are saving things) 13. now go down to the right, and CLICK ON "Save" Now there is just 2 little secrets to give you and we will be done with this lesson. This will help you practice anytime you want with out going on line. These 2 things are real easy. 1. Go to your MY Documents. DOUBLE CLICK on the folder you made, now DOUBLE CLICK on the file you saved. 2. The notepad window is open. Go up and CLICK on FILE, go down and CLICK on SAVE AS. Just like you did before. 3. The save as window is open. Just like before. Bottom middle in the small window with *.txt is highlighted, THIS TIME type the same name you gave your file and exactly the same way you did the first time, ONLY THIS TIME DON'T type .txt TYPE .html (don't forget the dot) Now go down and Save it. Now you have the same file saved twice, except 1 is text and the other is html. Go to your folder and you will see one with either a blue e, or a ships wheel (this depends which browser your using) that has the name you gave it, double click on it and it will open in your browser window showing you exactly what it will look like on line with out being on line. It's really Cool. HERE'S A TIP! If there are just parts of a lesson you want to print highlight those parts with the mouse, copy, then paste in notepad, click on file, go down and click on print. After it prints, close the note pad window. When you do a small window will appear asking if you want to save the changes just click no. Here's the last thing. This will help you to practice your HTML anytime you want with out going on line. IT'S YOUR OWN TESTER and you can keep it in your folder you made. When you want to use it just double click on the file and there it will be.
